Port Isabel’s city election moved to Nov. 3, 2020

Staff Report

Port Isabel Mayor J.J. Zamora drew an opponent in Baldimar Alaniz for the city mayor’s seat. Incumbent Council-members Martin Cantu Jr., and Carman Rios are running unopposed.

The elections are for three year terms in office. City meetings are held at Port Isabel City Hall on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

The city election was originally set for May 2, 2020, but was rescheduled to the November 3, 2020 after Texas Governor Gregg Abbot issued a proclamation in March postponed all May elections for the safety of voters due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
